At Town Lane Infant School we understand the importance
of curriculum enrichment and the impact of offering children
learning opportunities beyond the normal school day. We
embrace the principle of lifelong learning and see an early
start to this as vital for the future success of our pupils.
We see the provision of after-school classes as another
opportunity to encourage our children to be confident, independent
learners.
Swedish Club

French Club
Over the past five years we have built up an extensive
range of extra-curricular classes that has certainly had
a positive impact on pupil’s development. These have
included Art, Drama, French, Gymnastics, Italian, Music,
German and Football. Children have also been involved in
lunchtime sport classes and the Family Works programme.
We are now taking this programme a step further by accrediting
children’s learning, and celebrating their achievements.
This step will certainly enhance pupil’s self-esteem
and motivation.
We have become an affiliated member of The Children’s
University enabling us to reward pupils for their attendance
at what will now become modules validated by the Children’s
University. Awards will be presented as follows:
- Certificates 10 hours
- Bronze Medals 25 hours
- Silver Medals 50 hours
- Gold Medals 100 hours
- High Achievers Awards 200 hours
Appropriate ceremonies will be arranged to present awards.

Art Club
All of the above activities mentioned meet the criteria
for modules and it is a simple process to now accredit them.
The only change for parents is that they will be asked to
sign a simple Parent and Student Contract for Attendance
at any of the modules when offered a place.
