School Improvement Plan 2007-8

Priorities

To Implement the SEAL (Social & Emotional Aspects of Learning) programme

Curriculum

  • Continue to modify the curriculum to address the needs of all children by implementing a practical and creative curriculum with a focus on quality not quantity- through Continuous Provision
  • Review the numeracy hour and in particular the impact upon lower achievers ( Data Target ) Improve the problem solving skills of Y1 pupils through the Primary Network Strategy.

Assessment

  • Review assessment policy and timings and type of assessment
  • Implement use of Classroom Monitor (Includes training)

Behaviour

  1. Review current behaviour policy throughout school with special reference to rewards and sanctions
  2. Implement SEAL programme
  3. Continue Family Works programme
  4. Consider other ways of engaging parents in pupil’s behaviour management
  5. Review the PSHE scheme of work

Training

  • More training for social, emotional development.
  • Whole school training –circle time behaviour management etc
  • Social & Emotional Aspects of Learning training
  • Mid Day Assistant training re- additional staff
  • Active playground training and implementation

Staffing/Building

  • Replace mobile classroom, relocate nursery & extend F2 classroom
  • Prepare feasibility plan for 9 classes F2-Y2 to ensure lower numbers in class and less difference between class sizes.
  • Workforce Remodelling -Devise plan for implementing Teaching & Learning Responsibilities

SEN

  • Review the use of support for implementing Individual Education Plans & Individual Behaviour Plans
  • Further training in strategies for Individual Behaviour Plans for pupils
