The school is a County Infant School for pupils of either sex aged 4+ to 7, with a nursery offering an additional 52 part-time places.

Annual Governors report is sent to all parents and can be discussed at the Summer Term meeting.

Staff Training

Throughout the year there is a planned programme of staff training. It is vital that all staff keep up to date with current practice. The L.E.A. provide training on National initiatives and many other aspects of Education.

Specialists within the school have responsibility for specific areas of the curriculum and provide ‘in house’ training.

Teaching Organisation

The pupils are organised into ten classes in School.

  • There are two part-time Foundation 1 Classes (Nursery 3-4 yr olds)
  • There are three Foundation 2 (reception classes 4-5yr olds),
  • There are three Year 1 classes (5-6yr olds)
  • There are three Year 2 classes (6-7yr olds)
 

No class exceeds 27 pupils. (Younger pupils are in classes of approx 24 pupils).

Classes have Teaching Assistants to reduce pupil to adult ratio.

The school week is divided into teaching time and time allocated for registration, assemblies and breaks.

Teaching time is 21 hours per week.
