As a school we have been very interested in developing
international links, and during the past few years we have
been successful in securing German and Italian Language
assistants from a British Council led Initiative. This has
created excellent opportunities for cultural exchange within
our local community, and provided our children and parents
with language competence and intercultural understanding.
Our Foreign Language Assistants…
- Work alongside class teachers to teach a foreign language
- Bring an international dimension to the curriculum
- Update teachers knowledge of target language and culture
- Inform discussion on citizenship

Our Italian Language Assistant organised
an Italian Evening at our school before she left to celebrate
the achievements of the after school children and adults
club.
In the future we hope to establish international links
with a partner school which will develop this opportunity
